A BRIEF TRIP THROUGH SPACE AND TIME
Emerged into the world, and boy what a good time to arrive.
My first Lego, Space Cruiser and Moon Base = one happy five year old
The future arrived, my first computer the amazingly brilliant ZX Spectrum.
Wrote my very first poke, first time and not the last time I’d get stuck on a computer game.
Setup my first company with good friend Richard Aston Eureka Software. Developed our first and only program which offered digital walkthrough guides to Sierra games.
Attended BSc Media Lab Arts at the University of Plymouth. An arts science hybrid education. The early days of developing digital interaction experience, computers were slower, software and technology had to be self taught and the internet was just kicking off. Hypercard, Director, 3D Studio, Photoshop (without layers) and CD-ROMS, memories! Met my fellow students with who I’d go on to startup specialmoves.
Joined the international research group CAiiA-STAR (Centre for Advanced Inquiry in the Interactive Arts – Science Technology Arts Research) under Professor Roy Ascot. Began a PhD entitled Telematic Theatre. The focus of this research concentrated on a practitioners view on how technology can be used to alter perception and the experience of both audience and actors.
Lecturing first and second year students within the Faculty of Technology and School of Engineering. Teaching workshops and supporting modules on the Media Lab Arts course. Subjects included design theory, visual design, 3D and postproduction, coding in Flash, Director and Web Front-end.
Co-Founded Specialmoves an award winning multi-discipline digital production studio located in London. Over the years we developed cutting edge interactive experiences, games and software solutions for a wide range of clients. We also won a bunch of awards www.specialmoves.com
Married Bernadette and became a father to Lucian
Said goodbye to specialmoves and London to settle in Denmark.
Became a father again to Tristan.
Returned to teaching and joined my good friend Adam Montandon at EAL in Odense to teach in Digital Concept Development and Entrepreneurship.
Went back to school and started a Master in IT at University of Southern Denmark. Core topics currently focusing on Interactive Physical Computing and User Oriented Product Design.
Joined LEGO Future Lab team, helping invent the future of play.
